Multi-wire springs (multi-strand wire springs) are special spring systems in which several high-tensile wires work together. Maktel produces multi-wire springs for applications requiring high cycling, heavy duty, vibration and repeated dynamic loading.
Product range
We produce multi-wire helical springs, multi-wire compression springs, multi-strand wire structures and high-tensile spring systems, including special solutions for the defence industry and custom geometries built to your drawing, evaluated per project requirement. Wire count, wire diameters, overall spring geometry and material combination are determined per project — production ranges from prototype to high-volume series, with no fixed wire-diameter range.
Advantages of multi-wire construction
Mechanical load is shared across several wires. Contact and relative movement between the wires can contribute to vibration and energy damping in certain applications, support fatigue performance, and provide stability and reliability under dynamic loads and impact conditions — these advantages depend on the specific application conditions.
Design, material and quality control
Material, wire structure, geometry, force characteristics, cycle count, installation space, temperature, vibration and environmental conditions are evaluated together, with engineering support for manufacturability and series-production process design based on technical drawings or specifications. Depending on project requirements we use EN 10270-1 DH class wire, EN 10270-2 Cr-Si alloyed wire, oil-tempered high-tensile wire, high fatigue-strength alloyed spring steels and special spring wire; controlled heat treatment, stress relieving, shot peening, black oxide, phosphating, Cr+3 zinc plating, nickel plating, passivation and solid-film lubricant systems can be applied. Dimensional, spring-force, geometric, visual, material verification and customer-specification-specific tests are applied; approved products are packed in line with traceability requirements.
